Week Eleven: The Brewmaster and The Sands End

Week Eleven
Another week completed in what has been an eventful start to 2014.  This week saw only the two new places which is good news for the readers out there who get bored easily at the longer editions.  Shout out to Hattie Hamilton who hosted a cracking birthday party at Foundation Bar in Covent Garden on Friday night.  I didn't realise until arrival that I had been here before otherwise it would be getting a favourable review this week.  Warning to people with sensitive ears, the place is very loud!
Despite my mid mid life crisis (I'm turning 25 in the next few weeks) I still visited two new places which were both pubs and both of very different standards.
Special guests include: Will Matthews, Josh Lee, Gabriel Langford and the return of Luke Chopper Harris.

Review
Will and I fancied going for a quick drink before heading off to the Foundation Bar in Covent Garden for Hattie Hamilton's birthday (Shout out).  'Where will do a good beer?' I thought.  Surely this place which arrogantly calls themselves The Brewmaster. Wrong!  This pub is grim.  It smelt like feet inside the building, there was an extremely weird vibe inside and the clientele were very suspect to say the least.  It was an uncomfortable drink
Pricing wasn't too bad but there wasn't a great range of lagers in all honesty.  The outside seating/smoking area was ok but nothing special.  I would say it was one of the worst pubs I have been to in a considerable amount of time.  This is despite us managing to get a table at the busiest trading time on a Friday night.   The reason for this was probably because the table was very very sticky, peeling off a good layer of my jumper away, as it felt like it hadn't been cleaned by the staff all night, neh ever.  Avoid this place like the plague. I vow to never go back.

Never has a name been so misleading

Review
What a cracking pub this is.  The reason for the visit was that Josh Lee chap (See Madrid addition) was visiting from Leeds so I went to join him, Gabes and Chopper for a well earned drink after work. (Working on Saturday and still visit new places, how do you do it?)  The guys were fairly chirpy on arrival as they had been at the joint early doors and unsuprisingly had highly recommended this place on the phone.  To be fair to them it didn't disappoint.
If you go on the website they say 'they are trying to bring a slice of the countryside to London'.  I actually think they achieve this pretty damn well as it really does feel like a proper traditional countryside pub you expect to find in a village in the middle of nowhere.  Well done chaps.
Other things this place boasts about is having cracking old rustic wooden tables which are a joy to sit around, a well arranged/placed bar and a even better addition is the fascinating literature in the toilets.  Here they have amusing recent articles to read (for the guys out there) while relieving.  What more can this place have? Becks Vier of course, the drink of choice for The Partyman.  The price for this was £4.10 which is fairly decent for London but the only thing is £4.10 is a slightly frustrating amount  It's so close to the round number of £4 but yet so far.  You give them a £5 note and you get back a ton of silvers instead of the popular £1 coin which we all love.  Fairly innocuous complaint to be fair.
Oh and this place had an IPhone 4 charger which always goes down well with me as you all know by now (see Bodeans week for reference).  Shame I couldn't of stayed here longer or sampled the food but I've been told only good things.  If you live just north of the river in South West London and you haven't been here....come.  I'm guess I am a bit behind on this place to be fair and you are all probably fully aware of this pub.

No photo of the place but heres my #nomakeupselfie.  Donated of course.
God I'm so topical and generous. Good look eh?
Poem Advice
Feeling a little touristy
wanting a drink in Leicester Square
Don't go to the Brewmaster
This place is having a mare
Wanting a countryside feel
In London's South West
Then head over to Sands End Pub
I swear I do not jest.
Timeout London seem to have gone a bit cold on the column offer but they could be playing it cool (no pun intended).
Anyways a big event this week with both Warwick School's Under 15's and Under 18's playing in the NatWest Rugby final this Saturday at Twickenham.  Come on the boys!  Big day.
See you next week fans
